THE STANDOUT RESULT

WHY THIS MATTERS

The stocking figure is what a grazier will react to. Nearly doubling head on the same hectare while cutting irrigation to twice a week is a large claim, and it is the kind of thing a neighbour can see over a fence rather than something that needs a laboratory.

The dam levels are the most checkable thing in the interview. Water in storage in May, against three empty dams in prior years, is a physical fact on the property rather than an interpretation.

Everything here is spoken. There is no meter on the irrigation line, no stock record, no control paddock, and no rainfall figure for the season being compared against prior years. The interviewer works for the company selling the unit. That does not make it untrue, and it does mean this belongs in a different bucket from the Marri Park meters or the SR TAFE beds.

Read it as one grazier's account of his own paddock. If the numbers hold on a metered follow-up they would be remarkable, and a metered follow-up is exactly what this deserves.
